Milwaukee Forklift Parts - Milwaukee is the 28th most populous city within the United States and the largest city within Wisconsin. Milwaukee is the 39th most heavily populated region in the USA and is situated on the southwestern coast of Lake Michigan. It is the county seat of Milwaukee County.

According to the Census of the year 2010, the population of the city of Milwaukee was 594,833. The Milwaukee-Racine-Waukesha Metropolitan Area had a population in 2010 of 1,751,316. The city of Milwaukee is the major economic and cultural center of the area and is the regional center of the 7 county Greater Milwaukee Area. In 2008, this particular region had a population of about 2,014,030.

Initially the area was settled by various Native American tribes. In 1795, a French-Canadian fur trader built the first trading post. The region which comprised Milwaukee was initially established by 3 different men in the years 1833 and 1834. The 3 townships were incorporated as Milwaukee in the year 1846. The city's name was derived from the Indian word "Millioke." Depending on the interpretation, the word for Milwaukee means "gathering place by the water," "the good land" or "pleasant or beautiful lands."

French fur traders and missionaries were the first European people to pass through the region called present day Milwaukee. In 1818, Solomon Juneau, the French-Canadian explorer lived within the area. During the year 1864, Juneau's town combined with 2 neighboring towns and became incorporated as the City of Milwaukee. During the 1840s, many immigrants including Germans helped increase the population of Milwaukee during that time and the decades which followed.

Milwaukee was once mainly recognized as a brewing and manufacturing powerhouse. Milwaukee's image has changed with the decline of industry in most of the States. There have been numerous new additions to the economy in the past decade. For instance, the Milwaukee Art Museum is presently home to Miller Park, that is a globally well-known addition to the museum. The Frontier Airlines Center, Milwaukee Riverwalk and the Pier Wisconsin are among the latest developments. There has been a remarkable increase within the building of lofts, condos and apartments, together with skyscrapers being built in the neighborhoods near the lakefront and the riverbanks.

Due to 4 of the largest breweries in the world situated within the city, Milwaukee was initially recognized as a beer township. These four breweries include Miller, Pabst, Blatz and Schiltz. Presently, only Miller remains in the city of Milwaukee. Milwaukee is still a huge manufacturing area. Approximately over 20% of the population is working within manufacturing companies. This figure is much higher compared to the national average. Among the major industry segments in Milwaukee comprise: Publishing and Printing, Tourism, Healthcare, Manufacturing, High Technology and Financial Services.

Milwaukee has the nickname of "the City of Festivals," due to the different festivals that happen throughout the year. Amongst the famous festivals include: the Great Circus Parade, CajunFest, the Holiday Folk Fair, Bastille Days, Summerfest, the Wisconsin State Fair, Polish fest, Irish Fest, Mexican Fiesta, German Fest, the Holiday Folk Fair and Festa Italiana.
